E-books Guide @ HKBU Library: Citing e-books

Everything you need to know about finding and using e-books in HKBU Library and beyond.

Citing e-books

E-books must be referenced too!

The structure of an e-book citation is similar to that of a print book. You have to include a DOI (digital object identifier) if it exists.

Use the Referencing Style specified for your course or School, and follow the examples available from the Library's Citing Sources Guide.

Many e-book platforms, including ProQuest Ebook Central, EBSCOHost and Oxford Scholarship Online, provide a "Cite this book" feature or allow you to export or copy and past citations to various reference management tools or a Word document in your preferred style (APA, MLA, Chicago, etc.). However, you should still check the details as automatically generated citation often have missing or incorrect information.
