These databases contain a wealth of different digitized primary sources.
Intelligence documents (e.g. intercepted radio broadcasts from foreign governments) gathered and translated into English by U.S. field agents collected in different parts of the world through the Foreign Broadcast Information Services.
Primary source database covering all British Foreign Office files produced between 1919 and 1980 dealing with China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Includes reports, letters, newspaper cuttings, maps, and diverse other materials.
The Library has purchased the digital archives of many major newspapers. Easily search the full text!
In addition to books, the latest scholarly research in History is published in relevant disciplinary journals. The following databases will be particularly useful in searching this journal literature:
Covers the history of the world (excluding the United States and Canada) from 1450 to the present, including world history, military history, women's history, history of education, and more. Authoritative resource for historians.
Can't find the full text of an article?
Unfortunately the Library cannot subscribe to every journal in the world. If you find a useful article that we cannot access, you can make an Interlibrary Loan request. We will get a copy for you from one of our partner libraries. This is a free service for eligible users!

Need a book that we don't have?
The Library has a huge number of books in its collection, but we do not have every book ever written. Eligible users can use the HKALL service to borrow books from other UGC-funded libraries in Hong Kong.
